NFL pays tribute to American Flag prior to Super Bowl LIV
The NFL and Fox aired a patriotic video paying respect to the American flag in the minutes leading up to kickoff for Super Bowl LIV Sunday evening.
The video featured Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter, other military members, families of 9/11 victims, news clips and more were set to the tune, "Ragged Old Flag" by Johnny Cash.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20, in the game.
Cash wrote the song about the flag of the united states back in 1974 in response to the uneasy times following the Watergate scandal.
The NFL also honored four 100-year-old American veterans who all served during World War II and some in wars after that by having them serve as honorary captains for the coin toss.
Gospel singer Yolanda Adams sang "American The Beautiful" and pop artist Demi Lovato performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" prior to kickoff. The Joint Service Color Guard for the Military District of Washington, D.C., presented the nation's colors on the field.
Halftime performer Jennifer Lopez also made a mark wearing an American flag/Puerto Rican flag coat while singing "Born In The USA" during her show with Shakira.
