Fore! Show your colors for the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach
By Luke Porco
A summer tradition began Thursday at Pebble Beach, and that is the 2019 U.S. Open. This year’s tournament will feature some of the top golfers from the United States, and all over the world. That includes defending champion Brooks Koepka, as well as favorites Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, and Tiger Woods. While there are many Americans competing in the tournament, such as Koepka, Johnson, Woods, Ricky Fowler and more, there are other top international golfers, including McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Justin Rose from England, and Francesco Molinari from Italy. The varied amount of golfers from different countries gives fans the opportunity to buy flags from their respective countries to support their country’s golfers.
Dates: June 13-16
Location: Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, CA
Defending Champion: Brooks Koepka
Koepka is also the defending PGA Championship winner, and is looking to win his second straight U.S. Open. He, along with fellow American Dustin Johnson, are the favorites to win the tournament this year, and between there being a prominence of American golfers, and this being the United States Open, the American flag will be a popular item for people watching the event this weekend.
The tournament starts with 156 golfers on Thursday and will continue through the weekend until Sunday, when the winner will be named. To support and celebrate the competing golfers from all over the world, you can buy American flags, as well as flags from countries represented, such as England, Italy, Australia, and Japan.
